Kohala Coast
- Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows (800.367.2323; www.maunalani.com) is closed for renovations and will reopen Nov. 1 with refreshed guest rooms and public areas with new
color schemes. - The Mauna Kea Beach Hotel (866.977.4589; www.princeresortshawaii.com) completed a $150 million restoration and reopened in March. Updates include a new spa, new dining options and 248 refurbished guest rooms.
- In August, the AAA Five Diamond Four Seasons Resort Hualalai (808.325.8000; www.fourseasons.com/hualalai) unveiled a new $40 million enhancement, showcasing 20 new suites and a renovated spa, beachfront bar, lounge and restaurant.
- Improvements continue throughout Hilton Waikoloa Village (800.HILTONS; www.hiltonwaikoloavillage.com) as part of a massive $100 million-plus improvement effort ongoing since 2005. The 1,240 guest rooms now include new beds, furnishings, bathroom fixtures and 27-inch, flat-screen televisions. All ballrooms and meeting facilities have been refurbished and updated with advanced lighting and sound, and T3 capable network infrastructure. Other updates include a lower lobby expansion, new fitness equipment for the Kohala Spa and a new Orchid Marketplace dining experience.
- Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa (808.886.6789; www.waikoloabeachmarriott.com) recently completed a $50 million transformation, with renovations to several areas of the hotel, including its 555 guest rooms and suites, pool, spa, 12,000-square-foot ballroom, 24-hour fitness facility, and restaurant and lounge.
Keauhou & Kailua-Kona
- The Keauhou Beach Resort (808.322.3441; www.keauhoubeachresort-hawaii.com) recently finished a $6 million enhancement, upgrading all 309 guest rooms with new carpets and furniture, as well as complimentary Wi-Fi access.
- In July, King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel (808.329.2911; www.konabeachhotel.com) completed the first phase of a $25 million renovation, including upgrades to all 230 rooms, bathrooms, elevators and hallways in its West Tower. The East Tower rooms, new lobby and pool are slated for completion by the end of the year.
Hilo
- Hilo’s oceanfront Naniloa Volcanoes Resort (808.969.3333; www.hottours.us) just finished renovations to its function spaces, as well as all 110 guest rooms of the hotel’s Nauna Kea Tower as part of a $10 million ongoing project.
- By September, the Castle Hilo Hawaiian Hotel (808.935.9361; www.castleresorts.com/HHH) will have completed a $450,000 renovation of its banquet facilities and meeting spaces.
