With the recession lingering on, it’s nice to experience a destination that is defined by its growth instead of projects mired in stagnation.
Very few U.S. destinations fit this description these days, but a couple recent visits to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex (with Arlington in between!) showed me what North Texans are all about—progress.
For its part, Dallas has been promoting a massive amount of infrastructure improvements and an Arts District project that was astounding even when the economy was humming. The fact that this grand endeavor is pushing forward toward completion points to the eternal optimism of those in "Big D." Not to be outshined by its Metroplex counterparts, the crowd is indeed going wild in the new football Taj Mahal of the Arlington, er, make that Dallas, Cowboys. After seeing the first game in this NFL Mothership, I am even more impressed with the limitless spirit of the Metroplex.
