Ernie Loeffler: Indigenous Insights
As director of the Fredericksburg CVB, Ernie Loeffler is intimately acquainted with the appeal of small-town Texas. His family arrived in the Texas Hill Country from Germany in 1845.
"Second- and third-tier Texas markets bring attendees closer to authentic Texas experiences, often at reasonable rates," he says. "Residents are proud to share their history, and the CVB staff often is able to introduce planners to some truly unique venues."
In Fredericksburg, Loeffler has bounty galore to share. There are luncheon meetings in the renovated ballroom at the Nimitz Hotel, where fashionable guests once arrived by stagecoach. There is Texas barbecue at the LBJ Ranch near Stonewall, where President Lyndon Baines Johnson once entertained heads of state, and Texas two steppin’ at the historic Luckenbach Dance Hall, immortalized in song by Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings, among other unique Lone Star draws.
