- Group guests from The Ritz-Carlton, Cancun can team up with volunteers of the resort to help Mayan communities in need. The Mayan Acquaintance Experience is the resort’s VolunTeaming activity. Partnering with Kanche (www.kanche.org), a local nonprofit organization, the beachfront hotel is offering meeting professionals and group guests the opportunity to have an encounter with the Mayan culture through a full-day giving experience, where participants travel to a nearby village to join the locals on projects that will contribute to improve the rural conditions of the town—everything from painting and gardening to carpentry and furniture restoration tied to the upgrade of the town’s school. In addition, guests can also collaborate in implementing recycling programs to raise environmental awareness in the community. When partaking in The Mayan Acquaintance Experience, guests make a donation of $115 per person. Profits go directly to Kanche.
