Arizona
- Phoenix’s Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa (602.955.6600; www.arizonabiltmore.com) opened a boutique hotel-within-a-hotel, named Ocatilla at Arizona Biltmore, in April. Ocatilla offers 120 guest rooms, a private concierge, pool and executive lounge available for meetings. The Biltmore offers 740 guest rooms, 100,000 square feet of meeting space and access to the 36-hole Arizona Biltmore Country Club.
California
- Terranea Resort (310.265.2800; www.terranea.com) opened in June. Located on 102 acres near Los Angeles in Rancho Palos Verdes, the resort offers 582 guest rooms, a spa, nine-hole golf course, and 135,000 square feet of event space.
- Penchanga Resort & Casino (951.693.1819; www.pechanga.com) in Temecula opened a new golf course, Journey at Pechanga, and finished renovating its spa in late 2008. The resort offers 517 guest rooms and more than 100,000 square feet of meeting space.
- Sycuan Resort (619.219.6085; www.sycuan.com) in El Cajon has embarked on a guest room renovation, expected to be completed by the end of December, Located near San Diego, the resort offers 54 holes of championship golf and a PGA-certified golf academy.
Hawaii
- Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea (808.874.8000; www.fourseasons.com/maui) opened its $9 million Serenity Pool in July 2009. The property offers more than 36,000 square feet of meeting space and 370 guest rooms and suites. As part of Wailea Resort, the property also offers several golf courses nearby.
- Maui’s Grand Wailea Resort (808.875.1234; www.grandwailea.com) completed a $50 million renovation in mid-December 2008. The property offers 780 guest rooms, more than 82,000 square feet of event space and several nearby golf courses.
- Mauna Kea Beach Hotel (808.882.7222; www.princeresortshawaii.com), located on the Kohala Coast of Hawaii’s Big Island, re-opened in December 2008. The hotel, which had been affected by an earthquake in 2006, was completely renovated and now offers 258 guest rooms and more than 4,400 square feet of indoor meeting space and 53,500 square feet of outdoor meeting space. The adjacent Mauna Kea Golf course also underwent a renovation.
- Located at Maui’s Wailea Resort, The Fairmont Kea Lani, (808.875.4100; www.fairmont.com/kealani) recently completed a ballroom, business center and guest room renovation. The property offers 450 guest rooms, 36,000 square feet of meeting space and is located near Wailea’s golf courses.
Nevada
- Located next to its sister property, Wynn Las Vegas Hotel, Encore Las Vegas (702.770.8000; www.encorelasvegas.com) opened in December 2008. The property features 2,034 suites, 60,000 square feet of meeting space and access to the nearby Wynn Golf Club.
New Mexico
- Albuquerque’s Sandia Resort & Casino (505.796.7500; www.sandiacasino.com) completed a lobby renovation in late summer. The property offers an 18-hole golf course as well as 228 guest rooms and 50,000 square feet of meeting space.
Oregon
- Located about 100 miles southwest of Portland, Salishan Spa & Golf Resort (541.764.2371; www.salishan.com) plans to renovate its meeting space in 2010. Situated in Gleneden Beach, Ore., the property offers 205 guest rooms, 16,000 square feet of meeting space and a recently renovated golf course on-site.
Washington
- Construction is under way at the Lodge at Suncadia (509.649.6400; www.suncadiaresort.com) in Cle Elum on a new golf course titled Rope Rider. Slated to open in fall 2010 or spring 2011, Rope Rider Golf Course will offer 18 holes on-site. The property is also planning to open a winery on-property next fall. The Lodge said the facility is anticipated to overlook the new course. Currently, the 6,500-acre resort 80 miles east of Seattle offers 254 guest rooms, 45,000 square feet of meeting space and the 18-hole Prospector Golf Course.
