Greensboro
- The Greensboro-High Point Marriott Airport (336.852.6450; www.marriott.com), located near Piedmont Triad Airport, recently completed a $6 million facelift. Among the renovations were significant upgrades to each of the property’s 296 guest rooms and suites, including new 32-inch HD televisions. In addition, the concierge lounge received an extensive overhaul.
- In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the national sit-in movement, the new International Civil Rights Center & Museum (336.274.9199; www.sitinmovement.org) will open Feb. 1. The museum’s exhibit space will cover two floors measuring a total of 30,000 square feet and will encompass a blend of period artifacts and educational exhibits using state-of-the-art technology to illustrate the struggle of African-Americans as they sought civil rights. For the opening, 14 exhibits will spotlight the international struggle for civil and human rights, as well as a range of artifacts from the civil rights era.
Winston-Salem
- A new Hampton Inn (www.hamptoninn.com) is slated to open in mid-January in Winston-Salem. The property will have 96 guest rooms.
High Point

The High Point Radisson Hotel has changed flags and is newly renovated. The 252-room property, with 12,500 square feet of meeting space, is now the Best Western High Point Hotel (336.889.8888; www.bestwestern.com).

The Loft at Union Square (336.884.1560; www.unionsquarehp.com) recently opened its doors to private events, offering more than 7,800 square feet of meeting space for smaller corporate events and receptions.

Briles House (336.889.5479; www.jlhp.org) a historic colonial house replete with antique furniture, is now available for private events, with about 3,000 square feet of meeting space.

A’Faires Banquets and Events (336.886.3370; www.afairesevents.com) is a new meeting facility with full-service event management and catering. The facility includes two meeting rooms with a total of 11,000 square feet of space.
