Checking In - South January 2010

Well, I promised you something special in my editor’s letter last issue, and hopefully as you read this you’ll know what I was droning on and on about.

We’ve plunged into 2010 with a major redesign that has altered just about everything on the visual end of our magazines. And we didn’t stop there, having cut down the trim size of our magazine to "take some off the top" and sliver some from the sides to make the whole package more portable while also giving us some more flexibility in the design department.

And speaking of which, a few issues ago we added Scott Easton to our staff to lead the design effort. Scott joined us from our sister publication, Buildings magazine, and was instrumental in the decision-making process guiding the redesign, working with the president, publisher, editors and those who looked over our shoulders at opportune times to help shape the direction of the new look, and carry out the vision of lead redesigner Kim Barbrie, the art director of sister publication Interiors & Sources.

But while we’ve changed the design and shape of the magazines, we’re sticking with our core mission of being "The Destination Experts," and presenting feedback from frontline meeting planners so our readers can benefit from the experiences of their colleagues before making a site or program content decision. Shoot me an e-mail or log on to MeetingsFocus.com to register your opinion.

We all hope you enjoy the fresh look and size, and stay tuned for even more enhancements down the road.
