Memphis

  • The Courtyard Memphis Downtown (901.522.2200; www.marriott.com) recently opened. The 131-room hotel offers over 5,000 square feet of meeting space, including a 2,000-square-foot ballroom.
  • Holiday Inn Select Airport (901.332.1130; www.ichotelsgroup.com) is undergoing a renovation to its 375 guest rooms, lobby and 33,000 square feet of meeting space. The renovation is slated for completion in June.

Nashville

  • The Hutton Hotel (615.340.9333; www.huttonhotel.com) opened in February 2009. The hotel offers 248 guest rooms, including 54 suites. There are also two penthouse apartments, 13,600 square feet of event space and a 7,000-square-foot ballroom.
  • Hilton Garden Inn Nashville Vanderbilt (615.369.5900; www.hiltongardeninn.com) opened in May 2009. The hotel offers 194 guest rooms, including 24 suites and more than 6,000 square feet of function space that can accommodate up to 550 guests.
  • The Loveless Cafe built a barn in its backyard, dubbed The Loveless Barn (615.256.9596; www.lovele barn.com), adding 6,000 square feet of flexible event space. The structure opens onto covered patios and lawns and is available year-round.
  • The upcoming 1.2 million-square-foot Music City Center (www.nashvillemusiccitycenter.com), to be located adjacent to the Sommet Center, will more than double the downtown meeting and exhibit space available in the current convention center. The facility will feature a 350,000-square-foot exhibit hall designed to double as a concert hall, more than 50 meeting rooms and two ballrooms. The center is scheduled for completion in early 2013.
  • Hard Rock Cafe Nashville (615.742.9900; www.hardrock.com/nashville) recently completed a multimillion-dollar renovation, adding a new open-air terrace seating area and turning its second floor into a music venue for live shows, parties or special events. 
  • Former Six Flags executives recently purchased Nashville Shores Water Park and Marina (615.889.7050; www.nashvilleshores.com), with plans to open following upgrades by this summer.

Chattanooga

  • Last May, Chattanooga Marriott at the Chattanooga Convention Center (423.756.0002; www.marriott.com/chadt) completed a $7 million guest room renovation. The property offers 13 meeting rooms and 10,212 square feet of meeting space.
  • The Residence Inn by Marriott Chattanooga Near Hamilton Place (423.468.7700; www.marriott.com) debuted last summer with 109 suites, a ballroom and a boardroom.
  • The Hampton Inn Chattanooga North (423.305.6800; www.hamtoninn.com) opened last February with 116 rooms. The hotel offers a 675-square-foot meeting room.
  • The Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Chattanooga I-24/Lookout Mountain (423.664.4222; www.marriott.com) opened last June with 90 rooms. The property offers one meeting room for up to 65 people.
  • The Holiday Inn Hamilton Place (800.315.2621; www.holidayinn.com) will open in June with 138 rooms and 2,000 square feet of meeting space.

Knoxville

  • Country Inn & Suites West Knoxville Cedar Bluff (865.693.4500; www.countryinns.com) opened in April 2009. The 89-room hotel offers meeting space for up to 40.
  • The Crowne Plaza Knoxville (865.522.2600; www.ichotelsgroup.com) recently renovated the Summit Grand Ballroom, the largest of its 11 meeting rooms.
  • The Holiday Inn World’s Fair Park (865.522.2800; www.ichotelsgroup.com) started renovations in January. The renovations will include all 286 guest rooms, slated for completion by summer 2011.

Smoky Mountains

  • The 94-room Clarion Inn Pigeon Forge (865.868.5300; www.clarionhotel.com) will open in May. There will be a 780-square-foot meeting room.
  • The 112-room SpringHill Suites Pigeon Forge (865.453.4514; www.marriott.com) is scheduled to open in April. The property will offer meeting space.  

Tri -Cities

  • Meadowview Marriott Conference Resort and Convention Center (423.578.6600; www.meadowviewresort.com) in Kingsport recently completed a multimillion-dollar renovation of its 195 guest rooms and added an additional 110 guest rooms, bringing the resort’s total to 305 guest rooms. The resort is also enhancing its meeting facilities. It currently offers 66,000 square feet of function space, and by November, the resort will boast more than 87,000 square feet of function space, including three amphitheaters, three ballrooms, numerous boardrooms and conference rooms, and a reception area overlooking the golf course.
  • Courtyard by Marriott Johnson City (423.262.0275; www.marriott.com) opened last September with 87 guest rooms and three suites. The hotel offers 1,000 square feet of meeting space.
  • Holiday Inn Express Hotel Johnson City (423.328.0500; www.ichotelsgroup.com) opened last June with 89 guest units and 400 square feet of meeting space.
