Lance Armstrong Set to Speak at NBTA Convention

The National Business Travel Association (NBTA) announced that world champion cyclist, cancer survivor and international activist Lance Armstrong will be featured as a keynote speaker at the 2010 NBTA International Convention & Exposition Aug. 8-11 in Houston.

After surviving testicular cancer, the U.S. Olympian went on to win seven Tour de France titles, shattering the previous record of five wins shared by four cyclists.

“Lance’s story about his journey as a professional cyclist, a cancer survivor and global activist will surely remind us all of what we can accomplish when we set out to reach our goals,” said Craig Banikowski, NBTA’s president & CEO.

According to Armstrong’s 2000 biography, doctors said he had a survival rate of less than 40 percent after the cancerous tumor was removed.

Armstrong joins Richard Branson, founder and president of Virgin Group, in this year’s lineup of speakers. Branson will speak during the general session and luncheon Aug. 10.
