Biloxi
- The Four Points by Sheraton Biloxi Beach Boulevard (228.374.9717; www.starwoodhotels.com) will open July 1 with 200 guest rooms, 600 square feet of meeting space and a 24-hour fitness facility.
- The Maritime and Seafood Museum (228.435.6320; www.maritimemuseum.org) moved to temporary quarters at the Edgewater Mall in Biloxi and will remain there pending the opening of an all-new facility by the beginning of 2012.
D’Iberville
- The Courtyard Biloxi North/D’Iberville (228.392.1200; www.marriott.com) will open this month with 121 guest rooms and a 700-square-foot meeting room.
Gulfport
- A Comfort Suites (228.678.9001; www.comfortsuites.com) opened in Gulfport in March.
- The Holiday Inn Gulfport-Airport (228.679.1700; www.holidayinn.com) opened in 2009 with 143 guest rooms and 1,900 square feet of meeting space just across the street from Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport.
Hancock County
- Site preparation is complete for the new Infinity Science Center (www.infinitysciencecenter.org) on 199 acres along Interstate 10, just west of the Mississippi Welcome Center in Hancock County. This $44 million project will take the place of the current NASA visitors’ center at the John C. Stennis Space Center and is scheduled for completion in mid- to late 2011. Features will include Science Express, an Earth Gallery, a Space Gallery and a 3-D Immersive Theater.
