A consulting firm is helping local officials prepare a request for proposals to build a new 500-room hotel at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.
Two surface parking lots on either side of 10th Street are available for the hotel. While Pittsburgh has experienced a surge in hotel building over the past few years, the idea to build a convention center has languished for a decade.
The 1.5 million-square-foot center’s four floors house 53 meeting rooms and the 31,610-square-foot Spirit of Pittsburgh ballroom.
