New York City
- In July, the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center (212.216.2000) will debut Javits Center North, a new 80,000-square-foot, pillar-free meeting space. Renovation work will begin shortly thereafter to replace the center’s roof with a green roof, replace the curtain wall and skylights, and modernize and reconfigure the center’s main entrances and all building systems. Completion is scheduled for fall 2013.
- The 34-story InterContinental Times Square (800.383.5430) is set to open this month with 607 guest rooms; a LEED environmental certification; a brasserie-style Todd English restaurant; and 11 meeting rooms comprising 10,000 square feet of flexible space.
- The Sheraton Brooklyn (718.855.1900) is scheduled to open this month with 321 guest rooms, a 24-hour fitness center and 5,000 square feet of meeting space.
- The boutique Andaz Wall Street (212.590.1234) recently debuted in the financial district with 253 guest rooms, the Wall & Water restaurant and Bar Seven Five lounge.
- The boutique World Center Hotel (212.577.2933) recently opened as the first hotel at the World Trade Center site. It features two meeting rooms as well as the View of the World Terrace Club.
Long Island
- The Marriott Springhill Suites Yaphank (888.236.2427) is scheduled to open in Yaphank this summer.
- The Viana Hotel and Spa (407.679.0145 ) is scheduled to open this fall in Westbury with 3,000 square feet of meeting space.
- The Hyatt Place Garden City (516.222.6277) debuted earlier this year with 122 suites and two meeting rooms totaling 1,150 square feet of space.
- In September 2009 the Allegria Hotel and Spa (516.889.1300) opened on the Atlantic Ocean in Long Beach, offering 143 rooms and suites and three meeting rooms totaling 3,100 square feet of space.
- Following a $3 million renovation in 2009, the reflagged and renovated Hampton Inn Jericho/Westbury (516.997.2000) reopened with 80 guest rooms and two meeting rooms totaling 934 square feet.
- The Best Western East End in Riverhead was recently remodeled and reflagged the Hotel Indigo East End (631.369.2200). The property will reopen in August with 1,100 square feet of meeting space.
- The Hyatt Regency Windwatch in Hauppauge was renamed the Hyatt Regency Long Island (631.784.1234) following a $3.8 million renovation of its meeting space, lobby and restaurant that was completed in March.
- The Long Island Marriott (516.794.3800) in Uniondale finished a $21 million renovation in July 2009 with the completion of its Champions restaurant. Previous renovations to the lobby, ballrooms and all 674 guest rooms were completed in July 2008.
- In the first quarter of 2010, the Sheraton Long Island (631.231.1100) wrapped up a multimillion-dollar renovation of its lobby, Grand Ballroom, Encore Ballroom and executive level. The property will begin renovating its guest rooms this summer.
Westchester
- The 247-room Doubletree Hotel Tarrytown (914.631.5700) recently reopened after a complete renovation, including a new “lodge” design featuring stone floors, plenty of wood and a large fireplace. The property has 24,000 square feet of meeting space.
- The Renaissance Westchester Hotel(914.694.5400) recently renovated its 341 guest rooms and lobby.
- As part of a $17 million renovation, the Hilton Rye Town (914.939.6300) enhanced its guest rooms and meeting rooms and will renovate its common areas, including its lobby, pool and restaurant, during the next year.
- The Hampton Inn & Suites Hotel Yonkers (866.502.5384) debuted in summer 2009 with 150 guest rooms and 960 square feet of meeting space.
- The Residence Inn Yonkers Westchester County (914.476.4600) opened in summer 2009 with 144 guest rooms and 500 square feet of meeting space.
