By RUTH A. HILL

Museums & Attractions
The University of Iowa Museum of Art in Iowa City is currently exhibiting Two Turntables and a Microphone, the work of Harry Allen, hip-hop journalist and Media Assassin of the group Public Enemy. In the 1980s, Allen captured New York street culture and the beginnings of hip-hop with a camera. This exhibit features 40 of Allen's photographs that represent the emergence of the music, culture and politics of this cultural phenomenon. Further expanding upon the visual culture of the hip-hop scene, the exhibit also includes a digital show of the work of Lady Pink, one of the forerunners in graffiti art who paint-bombed New York subway trains with such artistry that she became a cult figure. Completing the exhibition is a display of original hip-hop show flyers, album covers and memorabilia that capture the history of hip-hop as a musical and cultural movement. The exhibit is being showcased through June 27 at the Black Box Theater, located on the third floor of the Iowa Memorial Union. For more information, call 319.335.1727.
