MPI Expands Career Connections Program

MPI announced the expansion of its MPI Career Connections Program through scholarships, enhanced live event career networking and expanding online resources.

“We felt compelled as an organization to help our unemployed members stay connected to opportunities and content that can advance their careers,” said MPI Chairwoman Ann Godi.

MPI has created a scholarship program to help send MPI members currently on the unemployment assistance program to a career fair at the World Education Congress (WEC) July 23-27 in Vancouver. Recipients will be able to participate in networking events, onsite interviews, a professional development educational track and more.

The career fair at WEC is designed for planners and suppliers who are currently looking for jobs or those exploring challenges in their career path. The WEC Resource Exchange will feature a career fair with unique job postings exclusively for WEC participants, an on-site computer bank, a connection spot for conversations, educational content sessions, personal coaching and professional resume consulting.

MPI will also expand its online career database. The association is now offering human resource departments the ability to post meeting and event positions at no cost to mpiweb.org/careers with special code “225.” They will be able to post unlimited meeting and event industry jobs for free, normally a $225 dollar fee per job posting.

As part of the MPI Cares Program, Career Connections remains free for MPI members to post resumes and job opportunities. More than 10,000 job seekers have signed up for Career Connections, and more than 4,000 resumes have been posted.
