Dave Nolan, president and CEO of Destination Toledo Inc., plans to leave his position July 23.
Nolan will assume the duties of senior vice president of Oklahoma’s Tulsa CVB Aug. 2. His resignation comes after Lucas County commissioners cut the funding for the former Greater Toledo Convention and Visitors Bureau by $400,000 this year, The Blade of Toledo, Ohio, reported.
Nolan served just 18 months on the job. An interim president from within the CVB will be named soon, said Scott Shook, board chairman. The county cut the local organization's funding from $1.2 million to about $800,000 this year.
“A dedicated funding stream for a prospering convention and visitors bureau is clearly a success attribute that’s required,” Nolan said.
County commissioner Pete Gerken said the bureau's funding was cut because its responsibilities were reduced when sports management took over operations of the convention center.
