The 1,193-room Hyatt Regency New Orleans is expected to reopen in the Big Easy in fall 2011.
The hotel closed after Hurricane Katrina devastated the region in 2005. The hotel plans to undergo a multi-million dollar renovation to include upgrades to meeting facilities and food and beverage options.
The transformation reopening of the hotel is part of an economic development plan designed by the New Orleans Regional Planning Commission and New Orleans Downtown Development District to revitalize New Orleans’ Central Business area over the next several years.
The hotel will include 200,000 square feet of meeting and exhibit space, a 350-seat restaurant, an atrium bar, a coffee shop and many other amenities.
