New York

  • Andaz 5th Avenue opened in July in a building that formerly served as the Tommy Hilfiger global headquarters. Of the 184 rooms, 36 are suites, six of which have terraces overlooking the grand facade of the New York Public Library. The Andaz XL Two-Bedroom Terrace Suite is 1,779 square feet, with an expansive landscaped terrace and views of both the Hudson River and the East River. Splash Suites offer views of the New York Public Library and the Empire State Building. The hotel provides complimentary Wi-Fi throughout. The second floor is home to the hotel's 6,500 square feet of meeting and event space which has been named Apartment 2E due to its residential layout.   • Holiday Inn Express Wall Street New Yorkopened in July with 112 guest rooms.   • Located at the current site of the Embassy Suites New York, Conrad New York will debut in Manhattan's Financial District in the fourth quarter of 2011. The hotel will offer 463 luxury rooms and a 15-story atrium lobby featuring a Sol LeWitt art piece rising 13 floors above the check-in desk. Each guest room will feature an average of more than 550 square feet and a minimum of two flat-panel televisions.   • The Best Western Arena Hotel, located in Brooklyn, opened in July with 56 guest rooms. Each guest room features a 42-inch flat-screen television and iPod docking station. Ohio

  • The 91-room Doubletree Hotel Akron/Fairlawn recently opened a few minutes west of downtown Akron and 30 minutes from downtown Cleveland. Formerly a Four Points by Sheraton, the hotel reopened after more than $1 million in upgrades. The guest rooms offer complimentary wireless high-speed Internet access, 32-inch flat-screen televisions and MP3-compatible stereo clock radios. Other hotel amenities include a fitness center, indoor pool and more than 6,000 square feet of event space, including the 3,000-square-foot Aspen Ballroom.
