Seattle
- The Washington State Convention Center recently opened The Conference Center (206.694.5000), a new high-end meeting facility. Adjacent to the existing convention center, the new facility features 71,000 square feet that can be configured into as many as 17 meeting rooms. The new meeting space connects to the convention center's existing 205,000 square feet.
- The Courtyard Seattle Downtown/Pioneer Square (206.625.1111) recently opened in the historic 1904 Alaska Building. The 262-room property offers an on-site restaurant, The Bistro, and over 4,600 square feet of meeting space, including the Alaska Club Ballroom, which accommodates up to 120 people.
- The Hyatt at Olive 8 (206.695.1234) opened in downtown Seattle last year. The $175 million project includes 346 guest rooms, 231 condominiums and 11,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space. The property, located one block from the Grand Hyatt Hotel, earned Silver LEED certification.
- Four Seasons Hotel Seattle (206.749.7000) recently opened in downtown Seattle. With 134 guest rooms and 13 suites, as well as 7,500 square feet of meeting space, the luxury property also offers an outdoor pool overlooking Elliott Bay.
- The independent Maxwell Hotel (206.286.0629; ) opened near Seattle Center in March. The hotel features 140 guest rooms, 1,600 square feet of meeting space, an indoor pool and a gym.
- Sound Transit's Link light rail line opened in late 2009, connecting Sea-Tac International Airport with downtown Seattle.
Bellevue
- The Hyatt Regency Bellevue (425.462.1234) finished a major expansion last year, adding a second tower with 43,000 square feet of additional meeting space and 351 new guest rooms. In total, the hotel now offers 733 guest rooms and 60,000 square feet of meeting space.
- Last year, the Meydenbauer Center opened its new Executive Conference Center (425.637.1020), featuring 2,500 square feet of private conference space in three meeting rooms.
Tacoma
- The Foss Waterway Seaport & Working Waterfront Museum (253. 272.2750) is undergoing a major expansion scheduled for completion in 2011. The project will triple the museum size to 24,000 square feet and include 4,000 square feet of conference space with waterfront views and an 80-seat film and concert venue.
- The Emerald Queen Casino & Hotel (253.922.2000) recently opened three new meeting spaces: a 3,000-square-foot ballroom, a 1,400-square-foot foyer and two breakout rooms.
- The Tacoma Dome (253.272.3663) recently completed renovations of The Overlook, a two-level VIP club with available catering and views over the showroom floor.
Seattle Southside
- The SouthCenter-Seattle Courtyard by Marriott Hotel (206.575.2500) recently underwent a $1 million renovation, including a high-tech interactive information board in the lobby and a communal space redesign.
Snohomish County
- A Hilton Garden Inn (425.486.0400) is slated to open Oct. 1 in the town of Bothell. It will offer 128 guest rooms and 3,500 square feet of meeting space.
Leavenworth
- The Sleeping Lady Resort (509.548.6344) recently completed a renovation and expansion that included the addition of a full-service spa and a demonstration kitchen in its restaurant. The resort, which is located two hours northeast of Seattle in the Cascade Mountains, offers 10,000 square feet of meeting space.
Yakima
- The Yakima Convention Center (509.575.6062) is scheduled to complete a new landscaped plaza by the end of September that will add 7,000 square feet of outdoor event space to the facility.
Spokane
- The Northern Quest Resort & Casino (509.242.7000) opened last December in Usk, just outside of Spokane. Operated by the Kalispell Tribe of Indians, the resort includes a full-service spa and 22,000 square feet of meeting space.
