The Walt Disney World Resort is expecting its 26th resort, the 2,000-unit Disney's Art of Animation Resort, to open at the end of 2012. Disney is also planning a new residential resort community, Golden Oak, featuring a new Four Seasons hotel. Golden Oak will start opening in phases next year.
The $380 million Amway Center (407.89.MAGIC), new home of the NBA's Orlando Magic, will open this October. Group venues will include the 31,000-square-foot arena floor, practice court seating for 500 and five banquet rooms.
In fall 2011, Legoland Florida will open on the 145-acre former site of Cypress Gardens theme park in Winter Haven.
In early 2011,the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art (407.645.5311) in Winter Park will open a new wing exhibiting objects from Louis Comfort Tiffany's Long Island estate.
