What are three restaurants that you would recommend for
groups visiting Detroit
-
Iridescence: This beautiful restaurant is located on the top floor of the MotorCity Casino Hotel. It’s one of the newest restaurants in town with excellent food and beautiful views of the city. The restaurant features a glass wall, and there’s multilevel seating. Iridescence serves what it calls modern American cuisine and features a Wine Spectator award-winning wine list.
-
The Whitney: This place is a Detroit icon. It’s the kind of place that my grandmother would have gone to on a date in her fur coat. It was originally a mansion that was built in 1894 and designed for lumber magnate David Whitney. Twenty of the 52 rooms have fireplaces, so there is plenty of ambience and a lot of choices for groups of varying sizes. There is so much history at The Whitney. The mansion is constructed out of pink granite, which is gorgeous. There is a lovely garden here as well. It’s definitely a place that groups won’t forget. It’s classic.

Coach Insignia: This is one I highly recommend for several reasons. First, the food is amazing. The restaurant is owned by Matt Prentice, a culinary sensation whose restaurant group owns several other great restaurants in the area. The restaurant bills itself as a contemporary steakhouse, and it has an awesome, award-winning wine list. Second, the view is incredible. The restaurant is located atop the GM Renaissance Center. Another great reason is that it’s in a great location near many hotel rooms downtown. The GM Renaissance Center includes a 1,300-room Marriott hotel. It’s a fabulous place when you want to impress.
