Several hotels in the St. Louis area are preparing lawsuits in protest over hotel tax increase measures being put on the Nov. 2 ballot by the cities of Clayton, Richmond Heights and St. Peters, according to a report in the St. Louis Business Journal.
Attorney David Bohm told the Business Journal that he is preparing two suits, one in St. Charles county and one in St. Louis County, to be filed on behalf of the owners of the Seven Gables Inn and Ritz-Carlton in Clayton, the Cheshire Inn in Richmond Heights and the Drury Inn in St. Peters.
If the tax increases, about 5 percent in each case, are approved, the hotel tax in the three communities would be among the highest in the country, according to a Business Journal survey.
