It’s easy to see why California has long been one of the world’s most magnetic destinations. It’s a place where you can hang 10, climb a mountain, drive jaw-dropping coastal routes, sip fine wine, spot celebrities and be a part of the next great high-tech idea. The unique energy of the Golden State inspires people to follow their dreams.
Growing up in Connecticut, contributing writer Carolyn Blackburn did a bit of California dreamin’ herself and finally headed out West, residing in the Golden State for 15 years. In our second annual Meetings California supplement, she points planners toward some remarkable experiences that will no doubt immerse groups in a bit of the state’s inspirational energy.
The supplement begins with an in-depth look at developments that are making destinations throughout California as enticing as ever, then dives right into the iconic Pacific, with a story profiling unforgettable group adventures, including shark diving, kayaking, paragliding, surfing and whale watching. Yosemite, Mammoth, Lake Tahoe and other natural gems are also highlighted, in addition to California’s growing wine and beer scene and rich filmmaking heritage—with a chance for groups to even get in on the action by making their own movie.
Statewide CVB contacts are also included, along with an Advertisers’ Expanded Listings section. For more information and additional planning resources, check us out on the Internet at MeetingsFocus.com.
Enjoy this year’s spotlight on the Golden State, land of opportunity and possibility.
