The Buffalo Niagara Convention Center has completed a $7 million renovation, part of an effort to attract more meetings and tourists to the area. The center, which opened in 1978, was by most accounts, badly in need of a make-over.
Gone is the 1970s-era décor. In its place, the center has completely remodeled its 64,410-square-foot exhibit hall with new flexible lighting, sound baffling, acoustical treatments, and a resurfaced floor.
An electronic curtain system allows natural light in, or darkens the room according to client needs. The kitchen area also has been expanded and redesigned, along with the main entrance and outdoor signage.
The Buffalo Niagara Convention Center hosts approximately 200 events and more than 300,000 people annually. The local CVB projects that the refurbished center will increase convention revenue by 45 percent over the next three to five years, part of an aggressive program to rebrand the region as a convention and meetings destination.
