Huntington Beach

  • The Shorebreak Hotel (714.861.4470) opened in 2009 with 157 guest rooms and 8,000 square feet of function space, including a 3,000-square-foot ballroom.

Newport Beach

  • In April, the Island Hotel Newport Beach (949.759.0808) completed a transformation of its more than 20,000 square feet of meeting space, including a 6,000- square-foot ballroom, five meeting rooms and five additional meeting suites.

Laguna Beach

  • The Retreat in Laguna (949.573.1480) was completely renovated in 2009. Each of its five uniquely named villas sleeps four people. With an overnight stay, guests receive a free 30-minute massage on their beachside cabana, a free surf or standing surf lesson, and one pass aboard Dana Wharf Sportfishing & Whale Watching.
  • Newly renovated in June, Pacific Edge Hotel (949.281.5709) is a 132-room boutique property situated on the sand in downtown Laguna Beach. For groups it features Pacific Edge Villa, a 4,000-square-foot private beachfront rental facility with panoramic ocean views from all three levels. Upon arrival, hotel guests receive an "Edge Card," which allows them to exclusively enjoy VIP privileges and discounts at local restaurants and businesses. The hotel recently introduced its new bar concept, "The Deck," located on a 3,000-square-foot open-air beachfront deck with fire pits for chilly nights and a cocktail and food menu.

Costa Mesa

  • The former Holiday Inn has been relaunched as The Hotel Hanford (714.557.3000). The property features more than 6,000 square feet of indoor meeting space as well as 3,000 square feet of outdoor function space.

Irvine

  • The Orange County Great Park (949.724.6247), which when complete will be twice the size of New York’s Central Park, offers a wide variety of sports, cultural and educational activities. The ongoing development began several years ago and is scheduled for completion in 2012. On-site meeting facilities at Orange County Great Park include Festival Park, ideal for ticketed events, a historic World War II hangar and a 50,000-square-foot picnic lawn adjacent to the Balloon Park and Visitor Center.
