Construction of a new 501-room Radisson Blu hotel at the Mall of America near Minneapolis will begin in December.
The Radisson Blu, a more upscale version of a standard Radisson, is slated to open in late 2012, and will be connected to the mall by a sky bridge. The owners of the Mall of America envision the hotel as a centerpiece to an ambitious plan to add more than 5 million square feet to the mall, which is located in Bloomington.
The Bloomington hotel would be the second Radisson Blu to open in the U.S. – the first is scheduled to open in Chicago next year. More than 200 Radisson Blu hotels are operated abroad.
