Kansas Hotel Gets Room Tax Increase for Redo
Visitors to the Drury Plaza Hotel in Wichita will be hit with a special 2 percent tax when purchasing rooms and other goods, the Wichita Eagle reports. The money raised from the tax will be channeled to developers to pay for hotel renovations to the Drury Plaza, formerly known as the Broadview Hotel.

Fairwood Capital LLC acquired the 159-suite Embassy Suites St. Louis–Airport in August from a private investment group for an undisclosed amount. The hotel will begin a complete renovation this fall focused on the guest rooms, corridors, restaurant and atrium. The renovation will be completed in phases to minimize guest disruptions. The hotel features a business center, 4,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, an indoor swimming pool, fitness center and restaurant. Homewood Suites by Hilton in August opened a property in Cedar Rapids—the first in the state of Iowa for the brand. The four-story Homewood Suites by Hilton Cedar Rapids-North offers 95 studio and one-bedroom suites.
