The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (804.340.1400) recently reopened in Richmond following an expansion project that added 165,000 square feet of space to its existing 380,000 square feet. The museum can accommodate meetings and events for up to 2,500 people.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond (804.697.8110) recently debuted a new exhibit called The Fed Experience. The interactive, multimedia display explores the power of people’s decisions on their quality of life, the impact of people’s choices on the economy over time and the role of the Federal Reserve in the economy.

Carriage House Inn (434.846.1388), a historic Victorian bed-and-breakfast in Lynchburg, recently unveiled new meeting space in its 1910 carriage house. Wireless Internet connectivity and flat-screen LCD TVs are among the features.

Liberty University (434.582.2582) in Lynchburg recently opened new meeting space with views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The space accommodates up to 788 people and is part of a major Williams Stadium expansion.

Amtrak (800.USA.RAIL) now connects New York and Washington, D.C., to Lynchburg with daily roundtrip service by the Northeast Regional rail service. Hourly morning service between Richmond and Lynchburg has also been added.

Mockingbird Roots Music Hall (540.213.8777) is a new live music venue in Staunton. The venue features local and nationally known musicians performing an array of acoustic music, including blues, bluegrass, folk, Celtic, Cajun, alternative and mountain music.

Frontier Culture Museum (540.332.7850) in Staunton recently unveiled a major new exhibit: a West African Village. The museum tells the stories of rural people and farmers who came to colonial America from Europe and West Africa and contributed to the building of America.

Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library & Museum (540.885.0897) in Staunton has a new interactive exhibit depicting life in a World War I trench.
- Heartwood, the Artisans Center (800.435.3440) in Abingdon is under construction. When it opens spring 2011, it will showcase the art, music and food from 19 counties in southwest Virginia. Groups large and small will be welcome to eat, enjoy a show and browse the artwork.
