A groundbreaking ceremony was held for the Jekyll Island [Ga.] Convention Center, a 128,000-square-foot beachfront facility that is part of a revitalization project that also includes new hotels and retail space.
The center, expected to open in mid-2012, is being built to achieve LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
