SRC Arena and Events Center (315.498.2622) at Onondaga Community College is scheduled to open in late 2011. The ultramodern, 180,000-square-foot athletic and event complex will include an 80,000-square-foot health and physical education facility. The college will offer over 500 beds in more than 90 suites to complement summer event bookings.
On course to open this April, Hotel Skyler (315.476.4212) is a unique conversion of a Jewish temple into a LEED Platinum Hotel. Set to be Syracuse's first LEED-certified hotel, the 58-room property—two treehouse suites included—will come complete with a cafe and marketplace.
A 123-room Staybridge Suites (877.238.8889) is scheduled to open in March with a mix of studio-, one- and two-bedroom suites. The new property connects to the 197-room Holiday Inn Syracuse/Liverpool (315.457.1122; www.holidayinn.com), which was recently refurbished, including 10,000 square feet of new meeting space for a total of 30,000 square feet.
In December, the Syracuse University Hotel & Conference Center(315.475.3000) announced a multimillion-dollar style and comfort renovation project. The popular property in the heart of Syracuse University is among the first Sheratons in North America to sport the new Sheraton guest room package. Slated for completion this spring, the first phase will include upgrades to all 235 guest rooms. The second phase, scheduled for completion in December, will include facelifts for the hotel's two restaurants, new gym equipment, a new club lounge and a refreshed lobby.
Reflagged from the Syracuse Renaissance in August 2010, the 279-room Crowne Plaza Syracuse (315.479.7000) continues to make style and technology upgrades. Offering 12,500 square feet of meeting and event space with a conference center and a panoramic 20th-floor ballroom, the hotel has revamped its restaurant and lounge, enhanced room amenities and introduced free Wi-Fi Internet throughout. Projects under way include exterior renovations and the installation of high-speed smart elevators.
