Incentives on the Rise

The outlook for incentive business is growing brighter overall, according to results from the latest annual Pulse Survey, Incentive Industry Trends 2011, conducted by the Incentive Research Foundation. The data was drawn from responses from 130 industry professionals last fall.

Among the findings:

  • 44 percent said that incentive travel budgets are increasing in 2011
  • 68 percent said business will be better overall for the incentive industry in 2011than last year, while 77 percent believe it will be better in 2012
  • 64 percent said they believe corporate procurement departments will increase their involvement in travel program planning this year
  • 55 percent said the economy will have a positive impact on implementing travel incentive programs this year—in contrast to 33 percent in the survey for 2010
  • 51 percent said incentive clients are requesting CSR components to reward programs “some of the time,” while 23 percent said they are requested “often” or “every time”
  • 58 said they are using social media to communicate with participants prior to the incentive program
