  • The San Diego Marriott Hotel & Marina (619.234.1500) is undergoing a three-year, $195 million renovation, including complete guest room makeovers and upgrades to all the public spaces. Upgrades include $97 million in new meeting and event space, a 40,000-square-foot ballroom and a 40,000-square-foot exhibit hall, plus a $3 million outdoor event terrace to be completed in October 2012.
  • The Inns at Heritage Park (619.819.6009), Old Town San Diego's 7.8-acre park containing several historic buildings, is currently undergoing a $4 million restoration slated for completion in 2011. Four Victorian homes will become small inns and bed-and-breakfast properties with antique furnishings and modern amenities.
  • The Best Western Island Palms Hotel & Marina (619.222.0561) completed a $20 million expansion and renovation in 2010, including the addition of 72 guest rooms, 60 spacious suites and 6,500 square feet of new waterfront meeting and event space.
  • The Doubletree Golf Resort San Diego(858.672.9100) finished a $2 million renovation in 2010, which included enhancements to guest rooms and public spaces.
  • The Handlery Hotel & Resort (619.298.0511) in Mission Valley reopened in 2010 after completing a $4 million renovation throughout the entire property, updating its tropical style with a contemporary look.
  • Guest rooms at the Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort (760.434.7020) underwent a $4.5 million renovation in 2010. Upgrades to the lobby and landscaping are currently under way and scheduled for completion this year.
  • In June 2010, Harrah's Rincon Casino & Resort (760.751.3100) in North San Diego County reopened its expansive buffet venue after a $6.2 million renovation. The new Modern Food Theater offers 9,000 square feet of space and more than 200 menu items, and it can accommodate up to 426 guests.
