New Orleans

  • The 64-room Hotel Le Marais (504.525.2300) reopened in November after a multimillion-dollar renovation. This boutique property features a meeting room and a bar and courtyard area that accommodates 150.
  • The Hyatt Regency New Orleans (504.561.1234) will reopen this fall after a $275 million renovation. The 1,200-room property is doubling its meeting and exhibition space to 200,000 square feet.
  • A $400 million modernization project at New Orleans Louis Armstrong International Airport (504.464.0831) is slated for completion in September. It includes a $16.9 million terminal enhancement that will double the size of Concourse D, creating six new gates and 8,000 square feet of concession space.

Louisiana's Northshore (St. Tammany Parish)

  • An 86-room Homewood Suites (985.809.6144) recently opened in Covington with two meeting rooms and an executive boardroom.
  • The 93-room Candlewood Suites Slidell Northshore (877.226.3539) opened in Slidell in January.
  • The Holiday Inn in Covington will complete renovations by mid-spring and reopen as the 155-room Clarion Inn and Suites (985.893.3580). The property will have meeting space for up to 340.

Baton Rouge

  • The 95-room Hotel Indigo Baton Rouge Downtown (877.270.1392) opened in February, offering a small meeting room.
  • A 137-room Hampton Inn & Suites (800.426.7866) will open in Baton Rouge in fall 2012.
  • Renaissance Hotels (888.236.2427) is renovating a partially constructed dormitory into a hotel. The 265-room, $42.5 million property will open at the end of 2011 with 12,000 square feet of meeting space and an 8,000-square-foot ballroom.
  • In December, Pinnacle Entertainment (702.541.7777) will open a $357 million hotel and casino on the Mississippi River with 200 guest rooms, a rooftop pool and a multipurpose event center seating up to 1,400.
