Harrison County

  • Mississippi Coast Coliseum & Convention Center (228.594.3700) held a ribbon cutting last August commemorating completion of its $118 million expansion and renovation. Its size was increased from 180,000 to 413,000 square feet of space, and it can now accommodate groups of up to 6,000, compared to 2,500 previously.
  • Four Points by Sheraton Biloxi Beach Boulevard (228.546.3100) opened in June 2010 across from the coast's largest meetings hotel, the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino. It features 195 rooms and two meeting rooms.
  • The 100-room South Beach Biloxi Hotel & Suites (228.388.2627) opened on the beach last October. It features a 2,200-square-foot meeting room and a 2,600-square-foot outdoor terrace.
  • Courtyard Biloxi North/D'Iberville (228.392.1200) held its grand opening in May 2010. With 121 rooms and a meeting room accommodating 40 people, the property overlooks Biloxi's Back Bay.
  • Beauvoir (228.388.4400), the retirement home of Confederate President Jefferson Davis, plans to open a new $10.5 million presidential library and museum next year. Owned and operated by the Mississippi Division of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, its grounds can be rented for functions of up to 300.
  • The Ohr-O'Keefe Museum of Art (228.374.5547) opened the first phase of its new $35 million museum in November. The first phase encompasses three of five proposed Frank Gehry-designed buildings, which include event space, on its new campus on Biloxi's Beach Boulevard. The second phase, which will include space for the permanent exhibition of potter George Ohr, is expected to open in 2012.

  • The Infinity at NASA Stennis Space Center (228.463.9222) is scheduled to open in 2012. The new $44 million, 67,000-square-foot visitor facility, which will replace the existing visitor center, the smaller StenniSphere, will include a welcome area, a free activity area, a gift shop, a 3-D theater and Earth and Space galleries.
