Property Profile: Renaissance Arlington Capital View

More Coverage

Different is the key word when describing the new Renaissance Arlington Capital View Hotel, which opened in March in Arlington, Va.'s Crystal City district, across the Potomac from Washington, D.C., virtually next to Reagan National Airport and literally attached to the Residence Inn Arlington Capital View.

The property is a showcase for Marriott's Renaissance brand, with a sophisticated, contemporary design carried out by acclaimed architecture firm Cooper Cary and luxury interior leader ForrestPerkins that emphasizes movement and Renaissance's customer-centric, high-tech focus. Meetings functionality includes cutting-edge Control 4 technology that allows planners to individually control room elements such as the shades, HVAC, music and lights, as well as a phone-hub system that brings additional Internet connection to key areas.

Other highlights of the property, which is aiming for LEED Gold status, include a green roof that creates a high degree of sustainability; a signature tapas-style restaurant, SOCCi urban Italian kitchen+bar, led by award-winning Executive Chef David Creamer; a 10,000-square-foot unobstructed ballroom; entirely pillar-free meeting rooms; a 3,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art fitness center; and an open-design lobby that comes equipped with iMac stations and is primed for social interaction.

The key area of difference boasted by the hotel, however, is its innovative design—a hallmark of the upscale Renaissance brand.

Guests wandering through the hotel will see eye-catching flourishes around every turn, all revolving around a movement theme and utilizing different textures to stay in motion. Examples include wall treatments that mimic the radiating movement of water droplets, carpet in the meeting space that was custom cut to fill the area without breaks in the pattern, and a stunning electronic lobby sign that uses up to 200 iterations of colors, which groups can customize to reflect their organization's standard.

And if the property's high-tech and design accolades aren't enough, it is also seamlessly connected to a 325-suite Residence Inn, which itself offers an additional 3,628 square feet of meeting space, including a 2,700-square-foot room that boasts emerging technology and is ideal for smaller, executive-level meetings.
