Oahu
- Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa (321.939.4031; www.disneyaulani.com) is on schedule to open the first phase of its new resort in August. The oceanfront resort being built at the Ko Olina Resort Community & Marina and will offer 359 guest rooms, 460 Disney Vacation Club Villas, a 14,500-square-foot conference center, 36,700 square feet of outdoor venues, an 18,000-square-foot spa and a variety of swimming facilities spread out across its 21 acres.
- The Waikiki EDITION (808.943.5811; www.editionhotels.com), conceived by Ian Schrager and in partnership with Marriott International, debuted last October. The hotel offers 353 rooms, four meeting studios, a 9,200-square-foot ballroom and three prefunction galleries. Featured attractions are a new restaurant by Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto, an exclusive nightclub and various bars and lounges, including the Private Sunset Beach. Additional guest amenities include a spa and fitness center and an outdoor movie theater.
- Aqua Hotels & Resorts recently added the 108-acre Queen Kapiolani Hotel (866.970.4164; www.queenkapiolani.com) to its Waikiki portfolio. Built in 1969, Queen Kapiolani Hotel recently completed a $5 million restoration project. Upgrades were made to the Akala Ballroom, Peacock Room and Queen's Room.
- In June, Sheraton Waikiki (808.922.4422; www.sheraton-waikiki.com) opened the Leahi Club Lounge, Hawaii's first Sheraton Club Lounge. The opening marks the completion of the final phase of a comprehensive $188 million renovation to the 1,636-room resort on Waikiki Beach. Located on the 30th floor, Leahi offers panoramic views of Waikiki Beach and the skyline.
- JW Marriott Ihilani Resort & Spa (808.679.0079; www.ihilani.com) at Ko Olina recently completed an upgrade of all 387 guest rooms and suites. Room enhancements include 42-inch, flat-screen LCD televisions. Ihilani Spa has also undergone a redesign that offers a larger ladies' lounge featuring a Zen garden and meditation area, new fitness center and free 24-hour access for hotel guests. Meeting groups can use Ho'onanea, the new private suite.
- The guest rooms at the Hawaii Prince Hotel Waikiki (888.977.4623;<a href="http://www.princeresortshawaii.com" target="_blank">www.princeresortshawaii.com</a>) are receiving a multimillion-dollar makeover in 2011, including the addition of flat-screen televisions. The hotel features 521 oceanfront guest rooms and 57 suites as well as 20,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor function space.
- The 203-room Ilikai Hotel & Suites (808.949.3811; www.ilikaihotel.com) recently made several property improvements, including the addition of 40-inch LCD televisions in all guest rooms, a refurbished restaurant and upgrades to the pool and courtyard.
Kauai
- Koloa Landing at Poipu Beach Wyndham Grand Resort (808.240.6600; www.koloalandingresort.com) recently debuted. The $150 million project features 85 two-, three- and four- bedroom residential-style luxury villas. Additional villas are scheduled for completion in the next two phases of construction. Amenities include an on-call private chef and personal shopper as well as Wi-Fi access in all villas.
- Kauai Marriott Resort (808.245.5050; www.kauaimarriott.com) on Kalapaki Beach recently completed a nine-month, $50 million renovation that has brought improvements to all areas of the hotel. Among the highlights were a transformation of the 356 guest rooms, a refurbishment of Kukui's restaurant and Aupaka Terrace lobby lounge and an improved main lobby. The property offers 13 meeting rooms and 20,230 square feet of total meeting space.
- The Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa (808.742.1234; www.kauai.hyatt.com) recently completed renovations of its 602 guest rooms. The Poipu Bay Golf Course also recently installed new greens. The property offers 65,000 square feet of indoor function space.
