Houston’s Convention & Entertainment Facilities Department (CEFD) is consolidating with the Houston Convention Center Hotel Corporation to form an entity that will operate the city’s George R. Brown Convention Center and some other municipal venues.
The new organization will be called Houston First Corporation, and its operating powers will become effective on July 1. In addition to the Convention Center, CEFD properties will include Wortham Theater Center, Jones Hall for the Performing Arts, Jones Plaza, Miller Outdoor Theatre, Sesquicentennial Park and Root Memorial Square.
