Myrtle Beach
Grand Gatherings
By RUTH A. HILL
|
They call it The Grand Strand—that 60-plus-mile stretch of Atlantic oceanfront and barrier islands in South Carolina that attracts millions of visitors annually. And at the heart of this all-season magnet is Myrtle Beach.
|
The region is home to a variety of hotels and resorts, many with a beachfront location, as well as theme parks, live theaters, nearly 2,000 restaurants, golf courses, shopping venues and three centuries of heritage.
With several new developments, it has ramped up its offerings for groups that want to combine business and recreation. Myrtle Beach has roughly 90,000 hotel rooms and accommodates groups as large as 5,000 attendees. At the center of the meeting facilities lineup and the city itself is the 250,000-square-foot Myrtle Beach Convention Center and the attached Myrtle Beach Sheraton Convention Center Hotel, with 400 guest rooms.

They house the largest collection of American sculpture art in the world, as well as an accredited zoo, vast natural areas filled with wildlife and history, as it is on the site of four former rice plantations. Brookgreen really is one of the most spectacular settings in the South Carolina Lowcountry.

ROE is the new ROI |
|
Wednesday, June 15, 2011
For years, producing excellent live meetings, on budget and with some basic evaluation tools, was enough for most of us to be successful. But with the recent economic meltdown, the advance of technology, the hassles of travel and the poverty of time, the drum beat is loud and strong that knowing your Return on Event (ROE) and using it as a planning tool is critical to your success.
