ASAE issued a statement on the immigration laws passed recently in several U.S. states, not taking a position on the laws, but expressing regret that the meetings and tourism industry can be negatively impacted.
The statement reads:
“The new immigration laws that have recently been passed in several U.S. states and under consideration in others continue to fuel a national debate over the specific provisions of the measure and whether comprehensive immigration reform is best addressed at the state or national level. ASAE is not taking a position on the laws. However, it is unfortunate that the meetings and tourism industry, associations and other organizations and the people who are a part of these communities may be negatively impacted by potential outcomes.”
