Carlson Hotels, which is expanding its Park Inn by Radisson brand throughout the Americas, recently opened the Park Inn by Radisson Sharon, Pa.
The 153-room property, which is a conversion of the former Radisson Sharon, offers 10,000 square feet of meeting space, a full-service restaurant, fitness center and business center.
The hotel is one of several properties in the Americas that Carlson has been adding to the Park Inn brand, which is well established in Europe but not on this side of the Atlantic. Carlson, which also owns the Radisson Hotels brand, recently changed the name from Park Inn to Park Inn by Radisson.
“We wanted to incorporate the Radisson brand, which is already well known on a global basis, with this new brand,” said Steve Mogck, executive vice president and chief operating officer for Park Inn in the Americas. “It gives people a better idea of who we are.”
To distinguish them from Radisson properties, the Park Inns by Radisson feature their own distinctive design and service elements, according to Mogck.
As part of its growth strategy for the brand, Carlson is focusing on mid-scale hotels with meeting space and food and beverage capabilities. Some of the properties are being converted from existing hotels, including Radissons, while others are new builds.
Recently added properties in North America are in locations that include Sao Paolo, Brazil; Saltillo, Mexico; Dallas; Tulsa, O
