Bismarck-Mandan
- A flurry of hotel activity is taking place in Dickinson (800.279.7391; www.visitdickinson.com), where a 79-room La Quinta Suites and 90-room Candlewood Suites are both set to open in 2012. A 79-room Microtel Inn & Suites recently opened, and properties under construction include an 85-room Hampton Suites and The Astoria, which will offer 95 guest rooms. Additionally, the Ramada Grand Dakota Lodge just completed a renovation that included the addition of 43 luxury suites and 8,500 square feet of event space.
- The Rough Rider Hotel and Conference Center (800.633.6721; www.medora.com) in Medora added 68 guest rooms, part of a substantial upgrade to the historic 1884 property and its original eight rooms. The property is owned and operated by the Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation and includes a new conference area of 2,340 square feet, with a courtyard also available for event hosting.
- A La Quinta Inn (701.751.3313; www.lq.com) opened in Bismarck in 2010 with 90 guest rooms. Located near the Capitol and Heritage Center, the property has two meeting rooms totaling 864 square feet.
Minot Area
- Flooding created by overflow from the Mouse River was under control and improving at press time, with the river cresting and beginning to recede. One substantial property, the Holiday Inn Riverside (701.852.2504; www.holidayinn.com), was temporarily closed with no re-launch date yet earmarked.
- A MainStay Suites (877.424.6423; www.mainstaysuites.com) opened in late summer 2010 with 75 guest rooms.
- A Candlewood Suites (877.660.8543; www.candlewoodsuites.com) opened in October with 83 guest rooms.
- The Northshore Inn & Suites (701.463.7202; garrisonnorthshoreinn.com) in Garrison recently opened with 22 guest rooms and a conference room with a capacity for 80 people.
