What are three great ways for groups to experience the natural beauty of Brunswick and the Golden Isles?
- The Beaches: The Golden Isles of Georgia are surrounded by water where rivers and the sea meet to create a spectacular destination. Besides the scenic beauty, there are miles of pristine private and public beaches to enjoy. And don’t forget, we are known as one of the “Shrimp Capitals of the World,” which means groups can enjoy eating our abundance of seafood as they enjoy watching shrimp boats coming and going. Mary Ross Waterfront Park in Brunswick is adjacent to the city shrimp dock and features a farmers market, pavilion and amphitheater, which offer a great vantage point on sunsets over the marsh.
- Lady Jane Shrimp Boat: Groups can reserve a shrimp-trawling excursion on a 60-foot, steel-hulled shrimp boat in the waters between St. Simons and Jekyll islands. During a 90-minute cruise, passengers watch the captain and crew drag nets and bring their catch onboard. It’s also a way to learn about the many species of marine and marsh life. Eating fresh shrimp prepared by the crew is always a big hit. Lady Jane is the only working shrimp boat in the country licensed by the U.S. Coast Guard for up to 49 passengers. The cabin is air-conditioned.
- Golf: For those who love the game of golf, few places can quicken the pulse quite like the Golden Isles. From the mainland to the islands, along river, marsh and sea, lie some of Georgia’s and the nation’s most spectacular and widely acclaimed courses. You can stay for days and never play the same course twice! Or find your favorite one and challenge it time and again. You are rarely more than 30 minutes from any course on the isles. Ocean breezes can make some holes tricky, yet delightfully inviting year-round—cooler in summer, warmer in winter and absolutely perfection in spring and fall.
