Bahamas
- Grand Bahama Island’s Our Lucaya Beach & Golf Resort (242.373.1333) recently launched a new website, www.ourlucaya.com, offering more streamlined navigation, vibrant new photography and an enhanced booking engine allowing travelers to book packages that include roundtrip air and accommodations.
Cancun
- The Hilton Cancun has been reflagged the Iberostar Cancun (www.iberostar.com) and is currently closed for renovations. The 426-room hotel and convention complex is set to reopen in December as an all-inclusive property.
Costa Rica
- The former Paradisus Playa Conchal Resort is now the Westin Resort & Spa, Playa Conchal (011.506.2654.3500; www.starwoodhotels.com). The property plans to finish a renovation of its 406 suites and public areas in December.
Dominican Republic
- The 122-room Four Points by Sheraton Punta Cana (www.starwoodhotels.com) is set to open in winter 2012 with a 24-hour business center and fitness facility among its amenities.
Puerto Rico
- Development of a $70 million, 252-room Aloft Hotel (www.starwoodhotels.com) is on track for a spring 2012 completion. Serving as an extension to the 503-room Sheraton Puerto Rico Hotel & Casino, headquarters hotel for San Juan’s Puerto Rico Convention Center, the new Aloft will feature 16,000 square feet of commercial space. Meanwhile, construction of a $40 million, 300-room Marriott Courtyard Convention District Hotel (www.marriott.com) is scheduled for completion in late 2012.
- The 371-room JW Marriott & Resort at Coco Beach (www.marriott.com/JW) is slated for a 2013 opening. The property will feature 21,000 square feet of meeting space.
Riviera Maya
- Melia Hotels (www.solmelia.com) will open two resorts flagged under the Paradisus Resorts brand in Playa del Carmen this November. The neighboring properties will share a common area, with one property aimed at adults and the other catering to families.
- The Reef Playacar Resort and Spa (866.384.3656; www.thereefplayacar.com) remodeled its 202 rooms, replacing a tropical motif with a more-sophisticated style.
