The Genting Group, a Malaysia-based casino resort developer, purchased a 13.9-acre waterfront site in downtown Miami with plans to build a $3 billion destination resort, possibly with a casino, according to a report in the Miami Herald.
The developer and other gaming companies have been lobbying the Florida legislature to approve Las Vegas-style casino resorts in Florida outside of reservations.
