Washington, D.C.

  • The Washington Marriott Marquis (202.962.4482; www.marriott.com) is scheduled to open in spring 2014. The hotel will feature 1,175 guest rooms and 100,000 square feet of meeting space and will be connected by pedestrian walkway to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.

  • Hilton Garden Inn Washington, D.C./U.S. Capitol (202.408.4870; www.hiltongardeninn.com) opened earlier this year with 204 guest rooms and meeting space for up to 300 people.

 

Arlington

  • The Renaissance Arlington Capital View (703.415.1300; www.marriott.com) debuted in March with 300 guest rooms and 17,400 square feet of event space. The hotel is adjacent to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

  • The Residence Inn Arlington Capital View (703.415.1300; www.marriott.com), connected via passageways on the second and third floors to the Renaissance Arlington Capital View, debuted this spring with 325 guest rooms and 3,600 square feet of meeting space.

 

Alexandria

  • The Mary M. Gates Learning Center at United Way Worldwide (703.836.7112; www.liveunited.org) opened in October in Old Town Alexandria. The facility offers 8,000 square feet of space, a 150-seat auditorium, an atrium and outdoor patio, six meeting rooms and a broadcast room.

  • SpringHill Suites Alexandria Tech Center (703.317.0013; www.marriott.com) opened in March near historic Old Town Alexandria. The hotel offers 155 suites and one meeting room for up to 60 people.

  • A $14 million renovation of the 496-room Hilton Alexandria Mark Center (703.845.1010; www.hilton.com) began in February, with guest rooms scheduled for completion this summer and public areas later this year. Approximately half of the hotel’s 55,000 square feet of event space is also being upgraded. Floors 28-30 have been designated executive level floors and will have access to a rooftop executive lounge when it opens in January 2012. There will also be 45,000 square feet of meeting space, a 10,200-square-foot plaza ballroom and a 10,000-square-foot outdoor lakeside patio.

 

Fairfax County

  • The Hilton McLean Tysons Corner (703.847.5000; www.hilton.com) plans to finish a $40 million renovation this fall. The project includes the renovation of the hotel’s 458 guest rooms and 31,000 square feet of meeting space, and the addition of a 3,000-square-foot ballroom.
