Whether you’re people watching over a glass of champagne in the hip lobby, gazing over the skyline from the bathtub in your suite or savoring the sparkling urban backdrop during an evening reception on the top floor, the views from Trump SoHo are impressive from any vantage point.
The stylish new kid on the block, rising 46 floors above the art galleries, restaurants and boutique shops of SoHo, debuted in 2010 and has been turning heads ever since, with its sleek design and decor, spacious guest units, high-end amenities, outstanding event venues and unforgettable views.
“We’ve been open just over a year now, and what we’re really excited about in terms of what we can offer is event and meeting space in an area of New York, being SoHo, that never had actual dedicated meeting space before,” says Danielle Gorand, senior group sales manager for Trump SoHo. “We’re also the only full-service luxury hotel in SoHo, so groups that were formerly committed to staying in Midtown Manhattan at the traditional luxury hotels now have an option to come downtown to a neighborhood that was previously known for great boutique hotels but very limited service and very limited meeting space.”
Trump SoHo has 391 guest units and 12,000 square feet of function space that can accommodate meetings of up to 250 people and events of up to 400 people.
SoHi, the hotel’s 1,700-square-foot, 46th-floor venue, sits in a class by itself.
“The largest buildings in SoHo in the past were about 20 stories tall, but the Trump SoHo is 46 stories tall, which affords us the views that have really never before been seen in Manhattan,” Gorand says. “I believe SoHi is one of the best spaces in Manhattan. I’ve had the most jaded of New Yorkers come here and say the same.”
Indeed, the venue boasts panoramic views of Manhattan, the Hudson River, the Statue of Liberty, the Brooklyn, Manhattan and Williamsburg bridges, and other New York icons, making it a phenomenal setting for everything from daytime brain-storming sessions to nighttime receptions and dinners.
The property’s 11 penthouse suites, ranging in size from roughly 1,300 square feet to 2,500 square feet, are another premier option for events overlooking the city. Floor-to-ceiling windows and outdoor terraces set the stage for movie-like vistas of New York, and multilevel floor plans provide a non-traditional setting for events.
Meanwhile, the hotel’s trendy Bar d’Eau, an alfresco poolside oasis on the seventh floor, can be rented for private events, and the third floor of the hotel has 10,000 square feet of dedicated meeting space, all bathed in natural light, which is often hard to come by in Manhattan.
Seasonal cuisine highlights the property’s catering menus, according to Michael Seaberg, director of catering and conference services.
“The chef tries to focus on locally sourced ingredients, and the cuisine can be custom-designed for any occasion—from Asian to Italian and everything in between,” he says, adding that special group programs have included Iron Chef-style competitions and cooking demonstrations in SoHi, and attendee feedback about the property’s cuisine has always been positive.
“On post-event surveys we score perfect 10s,” he says. “People say they had an outstanding food experience.”
Aside from the gathering options and cuisine, another highlight of the property is its top-drawer design, including custom furnishings by Fendi Casa, which doesn’t skimp on fine leather and solid wood. Guest units are also outfitted with marble bathrooms and upscale bath amenities.
“One of the things that makes us very unique is the really modern and sophisticated take on the decor, which Ivanka Trump and Donald Trump Jr. had a big hand in,” says Becky LoTurco, executive assistant manager of Trump SoHo, adding that the Trump Attache service is another top selling point. “Through the personalized service of the Trump Attache, we try to anticipate the guest’s needs from beginning to end, contacting them even before they arrive.”
Rounding out the experience at Trump SoHo is Quattro Gastronomia Italiana, the property’s signature restaurant; Kastel, an exclusive cocktail lounge; and The Spa at Trump, an 11,000-square-foot lavish retreat.
