Charleston Area
- The 176-room Courtyard by Marriott Charleston Historic District (843.805.7900; www.charlestonhotel.com) opened in March with more than 7,700 square feet of function space, including a 2,100-square-foot ballroom.
- The Charleston Marriott (843.723.3000; www.marriott.com) recently completed a redesign of its guest rooms and suites. The property features 50,000 square feet of meeting and event space.
- The Comfort Inn Charleston (843.577.2224; comfortinncharleston.com) completed a property-wide renovation in August.
- At press time, Montague Terrace (843. 529.5029; montagueterrace.net), an eco-friendly venue with full production and LED lighting capabilities located at the Charleston Area Convention Center campus, was on track to open this month.
- Crowne Plaza Hotel Charleston Airport-Convention Center (843.744.4422; www.crowneplaza.com/charlestonsc) opened in January with 166 guest rooms and 10,000 square feet of meeting space.
Hilton Head
- The 60-room Inn at Harbour Town at the Sea Pines Resort (866.561.8802; www.seapines.com) wrapped up a year-long revitalization project in June, including guest room and exterior landscaping upgrades.
Myrtle Beach
- Myrtle Beach International Airport (843.448.1580; www.flymyrtlebeach.com/expansion.cfm) is undergoing a $130 million passenger terminal expansion that began in June 2010 and will be completed in early 2013.
- Aqua Beach Inn (843.916.1301; www.aquabeachinn.com), located in the former Blue Bay Resort property, underwent a complete renovation and opened in May.
- The newly renovated oceanfront Surfside Beach Resort (843.238.4444; www.surfsidebeachresort.com) reopened in June after guest room upgrades and the addition of a new meeting room, business center and lobby area.
Inland South Carolina
Columbia
- The Hilton Garden Inn Columbia/Northeast (803.807.9000; www.hiltongardeninn.com) opened in February with 110 guest rooms and meeting space.
- The Doubletree by Hilton Hotel Columbia (803.731.0300; www.doubletree.com) opened in June with banquet seating for up to 800 people.
Greenville
- TD Convention Center (864.233.2562; www.carolinafirstcenter.com), formerly Carolina First Center, changed its name in July. The facility, which underwent a $22 million renovation in 2008, offers 280,000 square feet of exhibit space and 60,000 square feet of meeting space.
- The Peace Center (864.467.3000; www.peacecenter.org), a performing arts venue, broke ground on a renovation of its lobby and exterior space in May. The project is scheduled to take about 18 months to complete.
- The 135-room Courtyard by Marriott Greenville Downtown (864.451.5700; www.marriottcourtyardgreenville.com) opened in April 2010 with several meeting spaces and the Nantucket Seafood Grill.
- At press time, the Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center (864.527.5948; www.krocgreenville.org/GHS ), featuring performing arts, conference and meeting space, was scheduled to open in August.
Rock Hill/York County
- The Courtyard by Marriott Rock Hill (803.324.1400; www.marriott.com/rkhcy) underwent renovations in 2010, including a new lobby area and guest room updates.
Spartanburg
- Spartanburg Marriott at Renaissance Park (864.596.1211; www.marriott.com) will undergo a $3 million renovation to include a concierge lounge for business travelers on the executive floor and upgrades to its restaurant and lounge. The project is scheduled for completion by March 2012.
- Hampton Inn & Suites Spartanburg (864.699.2222; www.hamptoninn.com) will begin a renovation in December with anticipated completion by March 2012. The project includes guest room, lobby and fitness center upgrades.
