The Society of Critical Care Medicine cancelled a convention set to take place in February 2014 at the Los Angeles Convention Center because of concerns over the proposed construction of an adjacent NFL stadium.
Jim Flanigan, spokesman for the organization, said he was concerned that attendees, which are expected to number 5,000, said that members could have trouble accessing the convention center during the construction and that one building they need to use may not be ready in time for the event.
Developer Anschutz Entertainment Group wants to tear down and relocate a convention center building to make room for the proposed 72,000-seat venue.
