  • Hilton Garden Inn (410.878.7200; baltimorearundelmills.hgi.com) and Homewood Suites BWI/Arundel Mills (410.684.6100; homewoodsuites.com), two properties in one building, have enlarged meeting spaces for a combined total of 3,700 square feet. Included is a 2,650-square-foot hall and outdoor patio.

  • Doubletree by Hilton at BWI (410.859.8400; www.hi-bwi.com), a former Holiday Inn property, recently completed an $11 million renovation that included enhancements to its 260 guest rooms and the new Eden’s Landing Restaurant and Lounge. The hotel has 10,000 square feet of meeting space, a business center and a fitness center.

  • Residence Inn by Marriott Annapolis (410.573.0300; www.marriott.com) completed a $3.5 million renovation that included enhancements to the suites, lobby, business center and meeting space. The new Outdoor Experience features a built-in grill and fountain alongside the outdoor pool.

  • Red Wine Bar (410.990.1144; www.redwinebar.com) is a new restaurant with an extensive and evolving wine list, including 60 choices by the glass and a private dining room for 20 guests. Artisan cheese, paninis, pizzas and large salads are the fare, along with live music and local artists.

  • O’Brycki’s Restaurant (410.732.6399; www.obryckis.com) at BWI-Marshall Airport has been named one of the Top Ten Restaurants at U.S. Airports by Frommer’s travel website. Frommer’s singled out the crab cake sliders. A new O’Brycki’s will be located at Arundel Mills Maryland Live!, the state’s largest gaming complex, which is slated to open in October 2012.

  • BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport (410.859.7027; www.bwiairport.com) set a passenger traffic record in 2010 when the annual commercial passenger traffic rose to nearly 22 million. Southwest Airlines is the airport’s largest carrier, with 11.7 million passengers in 2010, and it just added new daily flights between BWI and Greenville, S.C. AirTran Airways reported nearly 3.6 million BWI passengers. The airport also received a second-place award for Best Food and Beverage Program for 2010 from AIRMALL USA, an airport concessions developer.
