- La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad completed an upgrade of its meeting and convention space, part of an overall $50 million facelift for the resort. The 611-room resort, which earlier this year renovated 474 of its guest rooms, features approximately 100,000 square feet of flexible indoor and outdoor meeting space on a 400-acre campus. The meeting space renovations include a makeover of the conference center, now named the Coastal Events Center. The center, along with the Costa del Sol Ballroom, provides 50,000 square feet of indoor space. La Costa also launched a new series of meeting planners’ suites. Six guest suites have been transformed into connecting live/work space located near the Coastal Events Center. - The Santa Clara Marriott completed an upgrade of its meeting facilities, including the addition of the new 5,500-square-foot Sedona Room which opens directly to an outdoor patio. - Gateway Canyons Resort near Grand Junction is planning a renovation of its existing facilities and building additional resort amenities. To date, the resort has offered a mix of accommodations, ranging from value-priced rooms to upscale multiroom suites. Under new management, the guest accommodations will for the first time all offer premium lodging. The existing Dolores River Inn will be refurbished and re-launched in spring 2012 as the new Kayenta Lodge and will feature 20 suites. Less extensive improvements will be made to the current Kiva Lodge, including in-room refurbishments, poolside cabanas and new fire pits. One addition will be the Palisade Casitas scheduled to debut in 2013. These 18 units will be made up of two different designs: the Hacienda and the Stargazer. The resort will be adding a wellness center, as well as additional treatment rooms and services at the Spa at Gateway Canyons. Another amenity will be the expansion of the Palisade Event Center with more flexible meeting space to accommodate a variety of group dining and meeting requirements.
