As a souvenir of a special event, planners can find some unique options for gifts at California museums. In most cases, many of the items can be customized with a group or client logo or slogan.

Souvenir gifts available at the Walt Disney Family Museum (www.waltdisney.org) include museum books, one published before the facility opened and a second coffee table book with a forward from Diane Disney Miller, Disney’s daughter. Old-fashioned Mickey and Minnie dolls—made just for the museum—are also popular.

The Tech Museum (www.thetech.org) has an array of only-in-Silicon-Valley-related items, including science-experiment kits.

At the California State Railroad Museum (www.csrmf.org), Tom Grenache, store manager, works with planners to find a special gift for groups, including pieces of reproduction railroad china such as the popular California poppy design.

The California Academy of Sciences (www.calacademy.org) gift shop offers a variety of gifts that planners can offer attendees, such as books or DVDs outlining the history of the academy and its LEED-certified building, as well as eco-friendly coffee mugs.

Scott McGaugh, marketing director at the USS Midway Museum (www.midway.org), is available for corporate events to sign books he has written about the aircraft carrier and its fascinating history. The books can be bought in volume as souvenir gifts, and the carrier’s gift shop has other books and an array of hats, T-shirts and jackets.
